ATA Candidate Endorsements

• Thank you for your interest in an endorsement from the American Teachers Alliance (ATA).

• ATA is a social welfare 501(c)(4) nonprofit membership organization that evaluates and endorses candidates for education-related offices based on policy positions, voting record, responses to ATA’s candidate questionnaire, and candidate’s affirmed support of ATA’s mission and ATA’s legislative priorities.

• ATA’s VISION: An unbiased and academically sound education for all children.

  OUR MISSION: To be the voice of educators that empowers members to provide the highest quality, unbiased and achievement-driven education to all children.

• For primaries, ATA only endorses school board candidates. For non-presidential general elections, ATA only endorses school board and other education-related races. For presidential year general elections, ATA may endorse in a wider scope of races.

• Candidates seeking ATA endorsement must personally be ATA Affiliates in good standing. Affiliate membership is required to ensure candidates are familiar with ATA’s mission, values, and issue stances.

• Affiliate membership does not guarantee endorsement and is not a political contribution.

• ATA’s Affiliate fee does NOT influence endorsement.

• ATA’s Affiliate fee is NOT a campaign contribution.

• The Affiliate fee supports ATA’s organizational operations and member programs and does not benefit any candidate or campaign.

• ATA’s endorsement decisions are independent and nonpartisan.

• ATA does not coordinate with campaigns.

• ATA endorsement consists of creation of a digital endorsement image file with candidate photo, office name, and ATA logo. ATA posts endorsement image on its social media channels and tags the candidate.
